Over ten years ago Miami Lighthouse created a unique Distance Learning Braille Music curriculum attracting national
and international students. Using Expert Learning License, the Braille Music Distance Learning curriculum is used

Computer Applications
This Distance Learning Curriculum is designed to improve the digital literacy of blind and visually impaired
students so they can acquire in-home learning skills to access the internet using screen reading software, such as,
JAWS for Windows.
Students will learn to navigate to a desired webpage, read the page content using specific key stroke commands that
provide auditory feedback, locate a desired link, save a desired page, search the internet and read selected

Early Learners
The Miami Lighthouse Academy LLC., in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, utilizes Family
Engagement Messaging Tool COR Advantage to communicate daily assignments and activities with parents. Teachers and
therapists interact with students through telehealth video conferencing and Unique Learning System and Bookshare are
used to deliver instruction.
