Over ten years ago Miami Lighthouse created a unique Distance Learning Braille Music curriculum
attracting national and international students. Using Expert Learning License, the Braille Music
Distance Learning curriculum is used for in-home learning and now ever so more important because of
social distancing. To contact us for more information on how to join our
Braille Music online course, call Nihusa Dias at (786) 362-7449
or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Distance Learning Curriculum is designed to improve the digital literacy of blind and visually
impaired students so they can acquire in-home learning skills to access the internet using screen
reading software, such as, JAWS for Windows.
Students will learn to navigate to a desired webpage, read the page content using specific key
stroke commands that provide auditory feedback, locate a desired link, save a desired page, search
the internet and read selected accessible web pages. To contact us for more information on how to join our Computer
Applications course, call Nihusa Dias at (786) 362-7449 or email at email@example.com.
Miami Lighthouse’s Learning Center for Children™, in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public
Schools, has gone online for the safety of our educators and the visually impaired Kindergarten
students whom we serve. The Learning Center utilizes Family Engagement Messaging Tool COR Advantage
to communicate daily assignments and activities with parents. Teachers and therapists interact with
students through telehealth video conferencing and Unique Learning System and Bookshare are used to
deliver instruction. To contact the Chief Program Officer, Carol Brady-Simmons, call (786) 362-7480 or e-mail
