            Miami, FL, October 10, 2025 — Miami Lighthouse is celebrating its 95th Anniversary on White Cane Day, a National Day of Observance established by 
            President Lyndon Johnson in 1964. The day is set aside to celebrate the many achievements of the blind and visually impaired, and their important 
            symbol of independence, the white cane. We invite our community to celebrate National White Cane Day on Wednesday, October 15th, 
            beginning at 8:30 am at Miami Lighthouse.

            of riding in Lamborghinis, Vipers and Porsches. On Saturday, September 13th from 11:00AM-1:00PM, get ready to rev up your engines with exotic cars 
            all showcased for the day by generous donors to help blind students from Miami Lighthouse for the Blind experience an unforgettable day. 
     
    
        
            Miami Lighthouse for the Blind Hosts Voter Registration and ID Services Event in Collaboration with Miami-Dade Supervisor of 
            Elections and Tax Collector's Office
        
         
            Miami, FL, September 5, 2025 — On September 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired will host an 
            important event aimed at empowering its blind and visually impaired program participants. In collaboration with the Miami-Dade Supervisor of 
            Elections and the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector's Office, the event will provide on-site voter registration and Florida state ID services to individuals 
            who are blind or visually impaired. 
     
    
        
            Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Miami Marlins Team Up to Bring Baseball to Blind Program Participants
        
         
            Miami, FL, July 7, 2025 — The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MLH) and Miami Marlins are bringing the game of 
            baseball to MLH Pre-Employment Transition Services Program Participants through their Beep Ball Classic 
            on July 8, and a Sensory Tour on July 23. The Beep Ball Classic is an adapted game of baseball relying on 
            auditory cues, so visually impaired and blind individuals can locate the ball. 
     
    
        
            Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Invites Miami Lighthouse Students to Experience Special Fire Safety Demonstration
        
         
        Miami, FL, July 1, 2025 — On Wednesday, July 2nd students in Miami Lighthouse's Pre-Employment Transition Services Program will be visiting Miami-Dade 
        Fire Rescue Station 2 for a tour of the firehouse. They will have the opportunity to explore the building, the equipment, interview the fire rescue team 
        about their careers, and experience fire extinguisher training. .
     
    
        
            Little Havana McDonald's Unveils New Painting by Miami Lighthouse Artists
        
         
        Miami, FL, June 19, 2025 — Blind and visually impaired artists from Miami Lighthouse's Social Group Activities (SGA) Program created a tactile mixed media painting, 
        HAPPY McFRIES, that will be unveiled at the Little Havana McDonald's, a neighboring location from Miami Lighthouse.
     
    
        
            Mockingbird Grant Funds Music Education For Visually Impaired Youth at Miami Lighthouse for the Blind
        
         
        Miami, FL, June 10, 2025 — Mockingbird, a nonprofit founded and run by Phish fans on an entirely volunteer basis, has announced eighteen (18) new grants to 
        support music education. Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired received grant funds for staffing at a music education non-profit for

            Lee County Students Receive NO COST Vision Services Thanks to Suncoast Credit Union Foundation Grant to Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program

        during the week of May 5, thanks to a generous grant of $31,500 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to the Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program,

        teenagers a touch tour and fútbol clinic. The specially designed clinic will teach the history, basic skills and rules of soccer, 
        using beeping soccer balls that enable the blind and visually impaired student to locate them by their beeping sound and strategically placed

        MIAMI December 16, 2022 – Ten visually impaired Miami Lighthouse for the Blind students will join other children from 
        underserved communities for a shopping spree and day of fun sponsored by the Udonis Haslem Foundation. Each participant 
        will receive a $200 gift certificate for a shopping spree at Walmart and a backpack filled with goodies. 
        Miami Heat Captain and three-time NBA champion Udonis Haslem will join them there to celebrate the holiday season.

        MIAMI December 12, 2022 – Miami Lighthouse for the Blind announced today that it has received a generous donation
        of $100,000 from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation, as a part of this year’s social and
        economic issue area grants program. The grants, which total more than $1.775 million, will be distributed over the
        next two years and will benefit 13 local organizations, with the goal of promoting a stronger, more equitable South

        for children will enjoy a day at the ballpark, courtesy of the Miami Marlins. Their visit will begin on the field
        with the opportunity to feel the clay and turf and continue into the Marlins dugout where they will interact with a
        Marlins player and a variety of baseball equipment including a glove and catcher’s equipment. They will then proceed

        MIAMI, January 24, 2022 – Miami Lighthouse will begin providing free COVID-19 testing for blind and visually
        impaired persons, responding to the difficulties that they experience with at-home rapid tests and accessibility to
        public testing sites. The agency will offer free transportation to its testing program to accommodate visually

            MIAMI LIGHTHOUSE ACADEMY EXPANDS ITS CLASSROOM SPACE ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING
        
         
        MIAMI, August 13, 2021 -- Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, elected officials, civic leaders and donors will gather to
        celebrate the Miami Lighthouse Academy Classroom Expansion. Originally a 900 square-foot bungalow house in the
        1930’s, Miami Lighthouse’s facility will now encompass over 150,000 square-feet of space dedicated to education,
        training, research and vision enhancement for the blind and visually impaired from babies to seniors. The expansion
        campaign was made possible by private donations in response to two challenge grants from local philanthropists.
        Additionally, the project was made possible by the investment of Northern Trust New Market Tax Credits and
        Enterprise Community Investment Inc. Tours of the new Miami Lighthouse Academy will be conducted immediately after

        MIAMI, May 22, 2021 -- The City of Coral Gables Community Recreation Department partnered with New Zealand-based Geo AR Games.
        Together, they debuted the Magical Park app in the U.S. in September 2020. This was an effort by Coral Gables to
        attract tech-minded families to parks to get their children to exercise. Magical Park has eight interactive games
        that can be played on a tablet or smartphone screen.

        received a generous two year award totaling $100,000 from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami

        one website - Democrat or Republican - was fully accessible for a blind or visually impaired person to navigate.
         
         
        We challenge all candidates to ensure that their websites are fully compliant with the Americans with
        Disabilities Act (ADA). It's not only fair, it's inherently American, and the campaigns should remember that
        inclusiveness is not just a good thing - it's the right thing.

        Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired Transition program for teenage students will have the
        opportunity to take part in a hands-on hockey clinic thanks to the Florida Panthers Foundation. The teenagers
        will play hockey in the bowl of the BB&T Center. Prior to the clinic, they will also participate in a touch tour
        and career development panel.

        Twenty five blind and visually impaired teenagers from Miami Lighthouse for the Blind will
        visit the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum to share a sensory experience at the largest collection of
        vintage Packard cars and historical memorabilia from 1900 on. In addition to a vast number of
        beautifully restored vehicles, the teens will encounter an array of hood ornaments, old gas station signs,
        carburetors, gear shifts and other classic auto mementoes.

        Affected by Age-Related Eye Disease."

            PARK ON THURSDAY, JULY 30 
        Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired music program
        students will have the opportunity to take part in a hands-on tour of
        Marlins Park, which is located just blocks from the Miami Lighthouse
        facility. After the tour, the participants will be able to experience the
        sounds and smells of the ballpark as the Marlins take on the Nationals.

        from AT&T that will enable youth who are blind or visually impaired to
        engage in activities related to broadcast journalism leading to further
        education or employment after high school and preparation for successful

        Comcast today announced it is partnering with organizations dedicated to
        serving people with visual disabilities, including Miami Lighthouse for
        the Blind and Visually Impaired, to bring the company's new voice guidance
        technology to more people. The "talking guide" is a feature on the X1
        platform that reads aloud selections like program titles, network names
        and time slots as well as DVR and On Demand settings, giving users the
        freedom to independently explore and navigate thousands of shows and

        visually impaired teens close to some of the world's most rare and
        fascinating animals. With the help of expert tour guides, the Touch Tour
        Safari will include interactions with everything from Australian red
        kangaroos to black-and-white ruffed lemurs from Madagascar, Aldabra giant
        tortoises from the Seychelles Islands, capuchin monkeys from South America

        National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services (NAC) on
        January 9 and 10, 2015. The NAC Board of Directors is composed of heads of
        vision rehabilitation agencies, academics, and representatives of consumer

        Blind and Visually Impaired a $5,000 grant to benefit our Better Chance
        Music Program which enables blind and visually impaired musicians to learn

            SCREENINGS AND GLASSES TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS 
        The Miami Marlins will join professional staff members of Miami Lighthouse
        for the Blind and Visually Impaired to provide free vision screenings to
        approximately 950 students at Booker T. Washington High School on
        Wednesday, November 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Any student whose
        screening exhibits vision problems will receive a comprehensive eye
        examination in one of Miami Lighthouse's Heiken Children™s Vision Program
        mobile optometric units at the school site. Free prescription glasses will
        be provided when required.

        Police and Fire Departments will walk together from Miami Lighthouse, at

        Music Production Program musicians, featured speakers and special

        Miami Lighthouse has received a $3,000 grant from the Dollar General
        Literacy Foundation to support summer literacy which will help blind and
        visually impaired children ages 5 to 13 improve their Braille reading and
        writing and computer literacy using a variety of technologies, aids and

        will join forces at Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired
        to showcase techniques in cosmetology for the blind at a first of its kind

        The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind has been selected to partake in
        PhilADthropy, a 25-hour marathon event hosted annually by the University
        of Miami Advertising Program. During the event, student volunteers provide
        free advertising and creative services to South Florida non-profit

        Members of the Miami Dolphins Special Teams organization will join walkers

        The Miami Lighthouse Heiken Children's Vision Program in the three years

        pre-game festivities at the 2011 Discover Orange Bowl. Natalia will sing

        Legendary music producer and former Miami Lighthouse client Henry Stone
        was featured at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Wednesday, May 19 at 7 p.m.
        in the Rock Hall's Foster Theater in Cleveland, Ohio.

        Bruce Winick, Esq. has been appointed the Laurie Silvers and Mitchell
        Rubenstein Distinguished Professor of Law at his law school, the
        University of Miami. He also has been named as Director of the law
        school's new Therapeutic Jurisprudence Center, a branch of legal and
        interdisciplinary scholarship that Mr. Winick pioneered.

        Danelle D'Aquanni Umstead, a visually impaired female athlete currently

        Virginia Jacko went from being one of the IN FOCUS Magazine WOMEN OF
        DISTINCTION to becoming one of the WOMEN OF THE YEAR. Virginia Jacko was
        selected as the 2008 Quiet Storm Achiever Award recipient in the category
        of Not-For-Profit at the 2008 Women's Power Caucus on Saturday, August 9th.

            DOLPHINS AT MIAMI SEAQUARIUM 
        More than 28 teenagers, ages 14 to 18, from Miami Lighthouse for the Blind
        summer camp will have the opportunity to partake in the Dolphin Encounter
        of a lifetime on August 7th at 11 a.m. at Miami Seaquarium.

            July 2008: BEAR HUGS FOUNDATION GRANT SUPPORTS STAR PROGRAM. 
        Miami Lighthouse has been awarded a grant from the Build-A-Bear Workshop
        Bear Hugs Foundation through their literacy grant program. The grant will
        enhance the 2008 Miami Lighthouse Summer Training and Recreation (STAR)
        Program, enabling the purchase of art supplies and musical instruments for
        use by legally blind children between ages 5 and 13.

        Power lifters from the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA)
        will have lunch at Miami Lighthouse on July 2 and spend time with students
        enrolled in the Transition Program, which is aimed at kids ages 14-20
        preparing for post-secondary schooling or vocational training.

        This summer blind and visually impaired high school students enrolled in
        the music program at Miami Lighthouse, along with sighted kids
        participating through the ACT (All Children Together) program of The
        Children™s Trust, produced a new CD titled "A Better Chance". This CD is
        the third by Miami Lighthouse musicians and the first produced completely
        at the Lighthouse's new state-of-the-art Henry & Inez Stone Music & Sound
        Studio.

            WHITE CANE WALK OCT. 15 FROM MIAMI LIGHTHOUSE 
        Thanks to newly-installed auditory pedestrian signals at Eight Avenue and
        Seventh Street, blind and visually impaired clients of the Miami
        Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired can walk to Walgreens, a
        block away from the Lighthouse on the corner of Eighth Street. The
        auditory signals were a joint project between state and county highway
        authorities.
