Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired enthusiastically visited each presidential candidate's website to find out more about them prior to the first Democratic Debate held in Miami in June. Not one website – Democrat or Republican – was fully accessible for a blind or visually impaired person to navigate.
Since that first debate, we have continued to follow the progress of the presidential candidates to make their websites more accessible. Since our first report, still none of the websites are fully compliant with the ADA, but most of the candidates’ websites showed improvements in accessibility. In the latest report, Miami Lighthouse revisited all of the 15 candidate websites that have qualified for the Iowa caucus. A few candidate websites have improved in ease of navigation, while 13 candidate websites have not changed since December’s report.
